The 1990s. A broken knee ended my football dreams – until my father bought me a Fisher MTB, one of the first aluminum models at the time. “Cycling will be good for your knee,” he said. Little did he know he was handing me my second great passion.
I loaded that bike onto a train to Nice and embarked on my first adventure: the entire Côte d’Azur with nothing but a backpack, paper military maps, and payphones for communication. Today, that sounds like pure adventure.
That journey began a lifetime love affair – MTB at first, then gravel riding, and finally road cycling.
Through it all burns my endless passion for exploration and climbing – so many climbs that I earned the “Scoiattolo” (Squirrel) certification from the International Union of Cycloclimbers.
But it’s not just about elevation. On every ride, I combine cycling with my love for history and local culture. Those pedals turn through millennia of human stories – where dialects change every 10km, where gnocchi recipes vary by valley, where house colors shift from yellow to blue as you cross invisible borders.
